Oubrerie recently honored with the "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres"
KSA professor José Oubrerie was recently honored with the French Award "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres" for his contributions as a professor, artist, and architect.
Oubrerie’s projects are scattered across the world and include churches, office buildings, and private residences. He has taught at numerous institutions in the United States and Europe and has received many awards.
The Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres is given by the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters), created in 1957 to recognize eminent artists and writers, as well as individuals who have contributed to the recognition of French culture in the world. This award is the highest in the cultural field in France, and is given out twice annually to only a few hundred people worldwide. Americans who have previously received the award include Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, and Uma Thurman.
