Pearlman Elected to AICP College of Fellows

Ken Pearlman

Kenneth Pearlman, professor and head of the City and Regional Planning section, was recently elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). This special recognition is bestowed upon planners who have achieved excellence in professional practice, teaching and mentoring, research, public/community service, and leadership.

Pearlman received his Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania, his J.D. from Columbia Law School, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. During his tenure at Ohio State, he has taught courses focusing on Land Use Controls, Land Use Policy, Environmental Planning Law, Social Policy Law, and Planning Theory. He served as the editor of the Journal of the American Planning Association and founded the Journal of Planning Literature. He is the co-author, with Stuart Meck, of Ohio Planning and Zoning Law (Thomson/West).
 
Pearlman is the fourth City and Regional Planning faculty member to earn this distinction. He joins Jack L. Nasar, who was inducted in 2006, and Dale Bertsch (2001) and Lawrence Gerckens (2000), both faculty emeriti, as a member of the College of Fellows.
 
The College of Fellows induction ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 27 at the 2008 APA National Planning Conference in Las Vegas.
