Student Organizations

AIAS

The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is devoted to special service opportunities, educational programs, and professional networking. Among their many contributions to the School, AIAS members promote a series of seminars, coordinate a mentoring program and design charrette with AIA Columbus, circulate a quarterly newsletter, and present the annual Beaux Arts Ball. The AIAS, with the Knowlton School of Architecture, also sponsors regular student, faculty, and alumni mixers.

CRPSA

The City and Regional Planning Student Association (CRPSA) is the formal student organization of the Section of City and Regional Planning. It is run by second-year students and provides social activities, planning-related lectures, and study assistance. CRPSA also represents the Section of City and Regional Planning in the Council of Graduate Students of The Ohio State University.

NOMAS

The Ohio State University chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) was founded in 2004 with the intent to inform, educate, and enhance the experience of the minority students in the field of architecture.

SCASLA

The Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (SCASLA) is a social and professional organization for landscape architecture students. The organization focuses on student life beyond the classroom by offering educational workshops, social events, speakers, design charrettes, and mentoring programs. Each quarter, SCASLA sells textbooks for all Landscape Architecture courses to students at wholesale cost. A SCASLA representative also serves on most Knowlton committees.

SERVitecture

SERVitecture is a student organization that encourages and promotes Knowlton School of Architecture student and faculty involvement through community service opportunities related to the fields of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and City and Regional Planning. SERVitecture offers a wide variety of opportunities to students from design-build projects to participating in on-campus service events as a group to service/learning trips. For the 2008-2009 school year the design-build project is designing and constructing dugouts for a local baseball field. We plan two one-week service/learning trips each year, one in the fall for incoming freshman to Charlottesville, VA, and one over spring break that changes its destination each year. This year we travelled to Pass Christian, MS to rebuild homes for Katrina victims. If you are interested in joining SERVitecture or would like to learn more about our organization you can contact us at servitecture@gmail.com.
