Minors

The City and Regional Planning section offers two minors, one at the undergraduate level and one at the graduate level. These minors are ideal supplements to studies in geography, landscape architecture, civil engineering or other related disciplines. The choices in core courses ensure that students will gain some exposure to history, theories or methods in city and regional planning. The curriculum is designed to be flexible to allow students to take courses that most meet their interests in city and regional planning.

Undergraduate Minor in City and Regional Planning

Students are required to complete 12 credit hours in city and regional planning to fulfill the minor requirement. At least 6 credit hours must be taken at the 3000-level or above and a student is permitted to overlap up to 6 credit hours between the GE and the minor. Students must take the minor courses for a grade and receive a 2.0 or higher. Please see the Minor Information Sheet for more information (link provided in sidebar). No permissions or approvals are required from the section to pursue a CRP Minor, though students should alert college or school counselors of their intent to complete the minor, so that the correct plan can be assigned to their records and tracked in the degree auditing system.

Required courses (6 credit hours)

CRPlan 2000 Introduction to City and Regional Planning, 3
CRPlan 4597 The Global Environment in Planning, 3

CRP Electives (6 credit hours)

The remaining credit hours are to be chosen from any city and regional planning courses at the 2000, 3000, 4000 level. CRPlan 5798 can also fulfill minor requirements. Some of these courses have prerequisites. Students would need to consider whether they meet the prerequisites before selecting the electives that are most appropriate for their interests.
