The landscape architecture section of the Knowlton School of Architecture (KSA) seeks applicants with demonstrated excellence in design and the promise of substantial contributions to the discipline for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. 

At a moment when there is opportunity to reshape the program, we desire a colleague who will advance our teaching and research expertise at the dynamic intersection of design, environment and technology. New faculty will play a vital role in the direction of the curriculum and the intellectual life of the section as the school continues to explore alternative modes of delivery in the rapidly changing studio environment.

Candidates should have strengths in landscape architecture creative scholarship, including (potentially) award-winning design work and publications. Candidates will be expected to: teach introductory through advanced studios, lectures, seminars and implementation courses; engage in peer-reviewed creative practice and scholarship; mentor students; participate in service activities. Applicants must have a MLA, PhD or equivalent degree in a related discipline, plus teaching and/or professional practice experience. Specific areas of teaching and research interest include:

·         Contemporary site design and theory

·         Innovation in ecology/environmental technology with a design perspective

·         Representation and contemporary media

Located on the main campus of The Ohio State University, the section offers professionally accredited undergraduate and master’s degrees and a two-year post-professional master’s degree. Our full time faculty are complemented by adjuncts and international visitors. We pro-actively participate in the KSA’s learning and research atmosphere alongside programs in architecture and city and regional planning, and with diverse disciplines across the university.
