McSherry a Finalist in Flight 93 Memorial Competition

KSA landscape architecture Section Head and Associate Professor Laurel McSherry, with Terry Surjan, is one of five finalists in the international competition for a memorial to Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA. The McSherry-Surjan scheme was one of five selected from a field of 1045 entries to receive $25,000 and an invitation to participate in Stage II. Jurors for the competition were: Paul Friedberg FASLA, Donna Graves, Richard Haag FASLA, Hon AIA, David Hollenberg, Michael Rotondi FAIA, Carole O'Hare, W. Cecil Steward FAIA, Susan Szenasy, and Sarah Waino.nbsp: The other four finalists are: Leor Lovinger and Gilat Lovinger, Ken Lum, Paul Murdoch Architects, and Steiner, Lewis, Kenter, Miller.

An online exhibit showcases the five winning entries as well as all of the more than 1000 entries submitted and can be found at http://www.flight93memorialproject.com. In addition, an article on McSherry's win is featured in The Columbus Dispatch February 8th edition.
