The project was designed to engage the viewer on two scales, that of a car driving along High Street and that of a pedestrian walking along the sidewalk. A blur of internal activity is experienced along the horizontal facade by passing cars. The facade is layered to relate to these two scales, as well as fragmented to create/allow specific framed views into the building. To the outside viewer, the internal activity is broken up and not completely understood until once inside the building, making the exterior and interior experiences almost inverses of each other. The indoor track becomes an 'internal street' which links all the program together, as well as create another element which begins to fragment interior views and activity on another smaller scale. Also along the street facade pockets are formed, allowing a direct connection to High Street and a broader spectrum of the surrounding community. These pockets become accessible to pedestrians on the street, along with those people inside the building, so they become highly interactive spaces along the street, or 'store front,' edge.
