Columbus Design Week 2012

September 29, 2012 - 7:00pm to October 5, 2012 - 11:00pm

Columbus Design Week 2012 is a first-of-its kind series of events to create an awareness of and foster appreciation for design and its importance to Columbus’ economy and its livability. The aim of the week-long series of events is to connect the public, designers, artists, and other innovator, and to celebrate Columbus’ rich architectural and design heritage and future. Ultimately, the goal is that new networks of cooperation, communication, and knowledge-sharing among diverse communities will elevate our community aspirations for future creative achievements.

Running from Saturday, September 29 through Friday, October 5, the Design Week 2012 kick-off event, the CBUS Ideabook Exhibit and Opening Reception, takes place on the 29th, from 7:00–10:00 PM at the OSU Urban Arts Space. The Ideabook Project invited individuals and groups to share their ideas, dreams, visions, and goals for Columbus’ future. Five hundred Ideabooks were letter-pressed by Igloo Letterpress and are being distributed to architects, landscape architects, artists, entrepreneurial innovators, civic and business leaders, educators, community organizers and those in the culinary, fashion, and other design arts. Come out to see these incredible books and the unique way they will be displayed! Mayor Michael Coleman has confirmed his attendance at the opening and he will grace us with opening remarks about his vision for the importance of design to our community. This event is free and open to the public but an RSVP is required.
