Ignacio Bunster-Ossa / WRT
Ignacio Bunster-Ossa will present the lecture "Beyond Design with Nature" in Knowlton Hall's Gui Auditorium at 5:30PM on Wednesday, February 1.
Bunster-Ossa is a principal at Wallace Roberts & Todd (WRT), a national collaborative practice of city and regional planners, urban designers, landscape architects, and architects, established in 1963 and headquartered in Philadelphia. The firm's origins are rooted in the principles of sustainability, dedicated to improving the quality of the natural and built environments in the planning and design of buildings, landscapes, cities, and regions. Its governing doctrine is to protect natural resources, promote social justice and economic well-being, and create livable human habitats that reflect local heritage, culture, and values.
Bunster-Ossa is a pioneer and leading practitioner of Landscape Urbanism, an approach to urban design based on the fusion of ecology, community identity, infrastructure, recreation, and public art. He continues to develop and refine this practice as he directs WRT’s landscape architecture studio in Philadelphia and of many of the firm's large-scale landscape projects. Bunster-Ossa is a Harvard Loeb Fellow and periodically lectures, teaches, writes, and serves on design award juries. In 2010, the American Society of Landscape Architects elected Bunster-Ossa to its Council of Fellows, in recognition of his long-standing leadership in and contributions to the practice of landscape architecture.
