Landscape Architecture undergraduate student McKenzie Wilhelm, and Knowlton School Landscape Architecture graduate Leann Andrews were was named the 2013 National Olmsted Scholars by the Landscape Architecture Foundation.

City and Regional Professor Jack Nasar’s research on the dangers of pedestrian use of cell phones recently was recognized by CNN, the national news program CBS This Morning, and is the subject of an in-depth article by OSU’s College of Engineering. Nasar’s study was conducted with City and Regional Planning alumnus Derek Troyer (MCRP ’10), currently a transportation engineer at the Ohio Department of Transportation. Results of the study will appear in the August 2013 issue of the journal Accident Analysis and Prevention

Four Knowlton School students have been selected for prestigious Cannon Design 2013 Summer Internships:

Cory Frost will intern in the Cannon Design Chicago office, while Emily Mohr will be in New York City, and Lindsay Mitchell will intern in Washington, DC. Joshua Helin's internship location is still being assigned.

The Glimcher Distinguished Visiting Professorship brings to the Knowlton School of Architecture internationally recognized landscape architects, practitioners who visit the School several times throughout the academic year to work with students in the KSA’s Landscape Architecture section. Glimcher Professors take part in seminars and design studios, lecture at the School, and often engage in additional projects, such as providing guidance to OSU’s Chadwick Arboretum or developing new volumes in the KSA’s Source Books in Landscape Architecture series.

KSA Assistant Professor Dr. Jesus Lara has received The Ohio State University 2013 Emerging Community Engagement Award. Community Engagement Awards were established by the Office of Outreach and Engagement to recognize individuals and groups at The Ohio State University who have rendered exceptional outreach and/or engagement to Ohio communities. Awards are given to projects that are deemed to be truly distinguished. Recipients of these awards have provided a spectrum of community outreach to expand scholarship across the teaching, research and service mission that strengthens Ohio State’s commitment to the communities we serve.

Four KSA City and Regional Planning students received Honorable Mention for two entries in the annual Richard J. and Martha D. Denman Undergraduate Research Forum, which took place in the Recreation Physical and Activity Center (RPAC) on Thursday, March 28, 2013.

KSA City and Regional Planning student Lanzi Li has received an Outstanding Senior Award by the Keith B. Key Center for Student Leadership and Service at the Ohio Union. Li was one of 20 OSU students recognized.

The Possible Mediums Conference, which took place at The Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture, February 7- 10, 2013, brought together 18 designers, and120 students from the event’s four co-host schools: The Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture, the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Architecture, University of Michigan’’s Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning, and University of Kentucky’s College of Design.

The KSA’s Second Annual Fashion Schau, hosted in Knowlton Hall’s Center Space on Friday, March 22, was a great success! Approximately 150 people attended the event, organized by KSA student organization, SERVitecture.

KSA Master of City and Regional Planning student Alex Smith has received The Ohio State University’s 2013 Outstanding Graduate/Professional Student award. And student organization Bike OSU, of which Smith is currently president, also won the University’s 2013 Outstanding Student Group Programming Award in the Innovation Category for its Mobile Bike Clinic.
