Knowlton Alum’s Japan Travel Blog Highlighted by Archinect

Evan Chakroff’s Archinect blog about a study tour led by associate professor of architecture Jackie Gargus that took 30 Knowlton students to Japan in December 2013 has been highlighted by the website as being one of the “most trafficked and popular pages in Archinect's diverse online ecosystem” during 2013. Chakroff is an architectural designer currently based in Seattle who received his MARCH degree from the Knowlton School in 2009. Over 17 days, the Knowlton group traveled to numerous sites in Japan, with a focus on developing a comparative analysis of different local styles of modernism in that country.

Chakroff posted 18 blog entries about the trip, which described the tour’s pre-departure planning, provided in-depth descriptions and analysis about the day-to-day experiences of the Knowlton travelers, and included a thorough post-trip wrap-up post. Blog entries were supplemented with photos and back-and-forth discussions among Chakroff and readers in the blog's comments section.
