Cheramie Wins Grand Prize in d3 Unbuilt Visions Competition

Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture Kristi Cheramie was a Grand Prize winner in the 2013 Unbuilt Visions competition. Her entry, Coastal Caretaker, developed with collaborators Ursula Emery McClure (LSU Architecture), Michael McClure(University of Louisiana, Lafayette, Architecture) and Sarah Young (University of Louisiana, Lafayette, Architecture), was one of four awarded grand prize status, with a further 11 submissions given special mention recognition.

The competition is sponsored annually by New York-based d3, “an organization committed to advancing innovative positions in art, architecture, and design by providing a collaborative environment for artists, architects, designers, and students from throughout New York City and around the world.”  Unbuilt Visions’ intent was to “promote critical debate about architecture and design by acknowledging excellence in unbuilt projects.” The competition sought to “recognize excellence in projects that to date remain unbuilt.” The “theoretical, academic and other unbuilt projects” submitted to the competition were judged by a distinguished international panel of architects, designers, theorists, and historians, including Knowlton School Associate Professor of Architecture Lisa Tilder.
