Council of Development Finance Agencies Gift Creates CRP Scholarship Endowment
A $50,000 gift by the Council of Development Finance Agencies (CDFA), facilitated by CDFA CEO Toby Rittner (MCRP ’00), has created the Council of Development Finance Agencies Endowed Scholarship Fund endowment. Funds from the CDFA Scholarship Fund will be used to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the Knowlton School’s Master of City and Regional Planning degree program. Scholarship awards will be based on academic performance and financial need with preference given to candidates who plan to pursue careers in economic development in the United States after graduation.
In announcing the scholarship, Rittner stated:
“CDFA is thrilled and excited to make this generous donation to The Ohio State University’s City and Regional Planning program at the Knowlton School. This donation will allow CDFA to support the school’s mission to support the field of city and regional planning. It also affords CDFA the opportunity to give back to the university which has been so supportive of our growth and development in Columbus. We look forward to meeting the deserving student recipient of our endowed scholarship and supporting his/her educational experience. CDFA would like to thank OSU and the Knowlton School for this opportunity and we look forward to a long and collaborative partnership.”
Rittner runs the day-to-day operations of the Columbus-based Council of Development Finance Agencies. CDFA, formed in 1982, is a national association dedicated to the advancement of development finance concerns and interests and is comprised of the nation’s leading members of the development finance community representing 400+ public, private and non-profit development entities.
Prior to joining CDFA, Rittner was the Director of Legislative Affairs and former Director of Training for the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the nation’s largest membership organization dedicated to the advancement of the economic development profession. Rittner has also worked for the Franklin County, Ohio Board of Commissioners, Community and Economic Development Department as a Senior Program Coordinator for Economic Development and as an Associate Planner for the City of Gahanna, Ohio.
