Systematic oppression through the utility of zoning codes has ravaged many cities throughout the United States, specifically communities of color. This meeting will feature Glennon Sweeney from the Kirwan Institute of Race and Ethnicity, an expert in the topics of jurisdictional authority, fragmentation, and competition. This meeting will focus on the city of Columbus and how zoning has decimated black neighborhoods with the creation of I-70, I-71, and I-670. The discussion will finish with ideations on how to mitigate issues constructed by this systemic and epistemic racism.
