The ‘Retracing the Underground Railroad’ project seeks to change the narrative told by ‘The Underground Railroad on University Land’ campus markers at The Ohio State University. They state a narrative that recognizes and remembers a small group of white abolitionists and their lasting legacy at The Ohio State University. We aim to more accurately post the stories and voices of those seeking freedom and the manner in which the underground railroad was conducted. Our class has worked to change the language of these campus markers to accurately depict the history of the Underground Railroad and its presence on The Ohio State University campus.

Join campus organizations and local media outlets to retrace the Underground Railroad with us.
