Late last year, Ohio State received nearly $10 million in US Department of State grant support to implement and administer for three years the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program in East Asia, which offers intensive summer language institutes in thirteen critical foreign languages. KSA Landscape Architecture student Blythe Worstell has become one of the first recipients of a CLS scholarship.

Stan Allen, Dean and George Dutton '27 Professor, Architectural Design at the Princeton University School of Architecture, and principal of SAA/Stan Allen Architect in New York, is the KSA’s 2012-13 Herbert Baumer Distinguished Visiting Professor. Allen joins a long list of prominent practitioners and scholars as Baumer Professors since the program began in 1996, including Zaha Hadid, Steven Holl, Greg Lynn, and last year’s Baumer Professor, Eric Owen Moss.

Italian design and architecture magazine Domus has published a report on Possible Mediums, the conference and workshop hosted by the Knowlton School of Architecture from February 7-10. Matt Shaw, editorial assistant at Domus, attended the event and wrote the article, using photographs taken by the KSA’s Philip Arnold.

OSU’s Center for Urban and Regional Analysis has awarded $500 grants to three Master of City and Regional Planning students that will allow them to present at various national planning conferences later this year.

Knowlton School Architecture Associate Professor Jacqueline Gargus and Landscape Architecture Lecturer Karla Trott were recognized by, respectively, the Sphinx Senior Class Honorary the Mortar Board Senior Class Honor Societies for their contributions to undergraduate education as teachers and mentors.

The Knowlton School of Architecture is pleased to announce the nine winners of the 2013 KSA Architecture Research Travel Awards (ARTA) competition. The ARTA program was established to encourage independent travel initiatives of up to 30 days by KSA students from all degree programs. The ARTA program is made possible by generous support from the Columbus Foundation.
