Landscape Architecture senior and team win Microsoft Firenze Competition

Landscape Architecture senior Ross Wakefield and his teammates were named the 2011 winners of Microsoft's Firenze | BXT Student Innovation Competition. The team was awarded $20,000 for their innovative proposal.

Wakefield's teammates represent a diverse group of students: Brie Reid (University of Michigan, Design), Nir Soffer (Cornell, Business), and Chua Chong Han (Carnegie Mellon, Tech). After all, Firenze is a student competition meant to bring together business, user experience and technology. The competition goal is to create a balanced product that isn’t all tech, isn’t all design and exists with a business model. After winning the Ohio State division of the competition, Wakefield flew to Seattle in late January to compete against four other teams from across the country.
