CRP faculty receive Faculty Award for Excellence in Community-Based Scholarship

Two CRP faculty, Charisma Acey and Jamie Greene, were honored at the University’s Celebration of Excellence in Community Service and Scholarship. The celebration took place May 24 at the Ohio Union.

This is the description of the award from the Service-Learning website:

Presented to a faculty member who demonstrates outstanding achievement through academic service-learning in connecting learning with community service, working in a mutually beneficial partnership with a community partner, developing leadership and citizenship skills among students, engaging in exemplary community-based research, and/or fostering appreciation for diversity. Nominations come from students, faculty, staff, and community organizations.

Professors Acey and Greene were honored for their ongoing work with the Offinso North District in Ghana. Over spring break Acey and Greene traveled with 18 Ohio State students to Ghana in an effort to collaborate with the community on a series of projects focusing on water quality, health care, sanitation, etc.
