2013 ARTA Grant Winners Present at the Big Stairs

Winners of last year’s Architecture Research Travel Awards (ARTA) gave presentations on their ARTA-supported travel at the Knowlton Hall Big Stairs on November 19.

Architecture Research Travel Grants provide financial support for students interested in pursuing independent international research travel. They are available to Knowlton School students from all degree programs. The school’s ARTA program is made possible by support from the Columbus Foundation. The 2013 ARTA winners who presented in November were:

  • Gregory Toupalik and Michael Zumpano, Tokyo Megalopolis, Japan
  • Nicholas Espinosa, Retracing Louis I. Kahn’s Tour of Scottish Castles & the Evolution of the Scottish Vernacular, Scotland
  • Stephanie Sang Delgado and Brian Polgar, Information, Interaction, Infrastructure – Istanbul, Turkey
  • Christian Golden, What Lies Beyond the Surface, Italy and Spain
  • Ian Mackay, Cyberpunk in Shanghai, China

The event included an overview of the ARTA program for students interested in applying for summer 2014 research/travel grants. Information about the ARTA program, including the downloadable application, is available on the ARTA page.
