Archiziter Profiles Ashley Schafer and other Venice Biennale Curators

Knowlton Associate Professor of Architecture Ashley Schafer, co-curator of OfficeUS, the US Pavilion project at this year’s Venice Architectural Biennale, has been interviewed by Architzer, “the largest platform for architecture and design online hosting projects uploaded by the designers themselves.” Architizer will offer a series of interviews with Schafer, co-curators Ana Miljački (M.I.T.) and Eva Franch i Gilabert (Storefront) and other members of the OfficeUS design team as part of the build-up to the exhibition’s opening on June 7.

The interview discusses the conceptual genesis of the OfficeUS project, which will re-envision 1,000 projects built by American architects abroad, its relationship to “Fundamentals,” the theme of this year’s Biennale chosen by director Rem Koolhaas, and the many challenges related to designing such a vast, functioning exhibition.
