Knowlton School Fashion Schau Raises over $1,600 for Charity

The 5th Annual Knowlton School Fashion Schau, organized by student group SERVitecture and hosted in Knowlton Hall’s Center Space on Friday, February 26, raised $1,613 for charity Dress for Success Columbus. That amount was the largest raised in the event’s history, exceeding last year’s total of $1,300.

The theme of this years' Schau was “RE modeled”, and event organizers were very focused on the use of recyclable materials, both in the designs and in the set. The major components of the set, the lanterns and pallets, were made from recycled, donated materials. Each design team was asked to explain their material choice and the lifespan of said material.

This was the largest Fashion Schau to date, with 27 design teams competing; 13 took part in the 2015 Schau. Student designers create wearable designs by recycling and repurposing materials and objects. Designers each choose their own model to showcase their creation on the runway. Knowlton faculty members judge the designs based on best use of recycled materials, creativity and more

All proceeds from this event go to Dress for Success Columbus, a national non-profit organization that helps empower women in their communities to become more self-sufficient through access to professional attire and career development tools.
