Drawing Fields shortlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2021

Drawing Fields has been shortlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2021. The installation was designed was by Outpost Office, an architectural practice co-directed by Knowlton School Assistant Professors of Architecture Ashley Bigham and Erik Herrmann.

Drawing Fields utilizes GPS-controlled field marking robots to draw site-specific, building-scale drawings on the Ragdale campus. We proposed this year’s ring as a series of temporal performances rather than a conventional installation and mounted the project on a fraction of the traditional budget. There are no disposal costs or waste. Each drawing is water-soluble, non-toxic, and disappears with rain, sun, and growth.
