Baumer Seminar Collaborates with MASS Design Group on Gun Violence Memorial Project

As part of the autumn 2021 Baumer Memorial Seminar with Michael Murphy and MASS Design Group, the seminar helped to coordinate an object collection event at the Northside branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library for the Gun Violence Memorial Project at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The project’s installation displays objects from the victims of gun violence. The Columbus Dispatch highlighted some of the objects collected as part of the event and talked with family of the victims about their donation.

In Columbus, they worked with Ohio State University's Knowlton School of Architecture after associate professor Karen Lewis reached out to the group to tell it about the rise of violence here.

"We're really just trying to highlight that this epidemic touches everyone; it touches all corners of our country," Ebersol said. "And we're trying to go to as many communities as possible in order to highlight the narratives and the individual stories of people who have been affected."
