Turret and Twist: A Co-Working Tower for Columbus

Rachel Kuepers, Elizabeth Sill

The Coworking Tower, located in downtown Columbus, is defined by two towers with differing systems: the turret and the twist. The turret in the tower is characterized by typical office space while the twist houses coworking spaces.

The twist is further divided into five neighborhoods: playful, creative, mindful, formal, and adventurous. Each neighborhood corresponds to an amenity and secondary mode of vertical circulation. For example, playful contains a playground and a series of ‘chutes and ladders,’ while mindful contains a gym/spa and a series of ramps.

The lower four levels are an extension of both the two towers and the park. They house a market, cafe, gallery, and daycare with large doors that open directly towards the park in warmer months.

The turret and twist create unique relationships and views, introducing a new way of work and community.
