Knowlton School Remembers Associate Professor Lisa Tilder

It is with deep sadness that the Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture announces the death of Lisa Tilder, Associate Professor of Architecture. On November 30, Lisa succumbed to a long battle with cancer while surrounded by her family. Lisa taught at the Knowlton School for more than 20 years and was an alumna ('92) of its Master of Architecture program. She was a devoted teacher, and a noted designer and author. Lisa is survived by her husband, Stephen Turk, Associate Professor of Architecture at the Knowlton School, her parents, Albert Tilder and Carolyn (Shuler) Tilder, and her brothers, Stephen and Chad.

To respect Lisa's wishes, Stephen and Lisa's family limited her internment to a small, family-only observance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lisa's name may be made to the travel scholarship in her honor. To make a donation, please visit The Lisa Tilder Memorial Fund page.

Lisa imparted an incomparable and selfless joy to all who knew her. In that spirit, and to honor Lisa's impact on the discipline and generations of students, the school will stage a Celebration of Lisa's Life at Knowlton Hall from 5-8 p.m. on January 23, 2016. The Blackwell and Crowne Plaza hotels are offering reduced rates to out-of-towners. Please RSVP through the registration link by January 16. You may contact Karin Gillund at with any questions regarding the event.
