Chad D. Gibson, AICP, has over 23 years of planning experience in Central Ohio. Gibson is the Migg Caulkins Urban Visiting Professor in City and Regional Planning at the Knowlton School where he teaches graduate and undergraduate studio courses, providing students with real-world planning experience. His autumn 2014 transportation studio course, “Columbus Rail Today – A Timeline to Multi-Modal Transportation” won both the National AICP and Ohio APA awards for best student project (https://issuu.com/columbusrailtoday/docs/columbusrailtoday). As a professor of practice, Gibson is also the Senior Planning Officer for the City of Upper Arlington where he serves the Board of Zoning and Planning while administering the award-winning Master Plan and Unified Development Ordinance. During the three-year span of 2015-17, Upper Arlington processed over 10,000 permits leading to an all-time construction record of $300 million.
