Sahar is a PhD. Candidate in City and Regional Planning at Ohio State University.  Sahar's current work investigates intersections between social dynamics and land use changes accompanying major urban transitions, with a particular focus on spatial inequalities and demographic shifts across cities and suburbs. Her three paper dissertation explores relationships between gentrification and housing conditions in destination neighborhoods, decline in suburban sprawl, and gentrification's contribution to changes in sprawl. Her research experience also involve work on neighborhood sustainability indicators, neighborhood child opportunity and issues of urban poverty.

Sahar is currently a Graduate Assistant assisting the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Urban Affairs. She has also served in Research and teaching assistant roles. Prior to coming to Knowlton, she got her Masters degree in sustainable urban infrastructure form Masdar Institute in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and her Bachelor in Architectural Engineering from the University of United Arab Emirates in Al Ain, UAE.
