Ethan McGory is a practicing Landscape Architect and lecturer at the Knowlton School.  He teaches courses on design fundamentals, plants and ecology, planting design, and landscape construction.  His private practice, Ethan McGory Garden Design and Landscape Architecture, focuses on human scaled residential, commercial and religious projects.  Ethan has won awards for his design work and recently had a garden published in Private Gardens, a collection by Images Publishing.

Ethan received his master’s degree in landscape architecture from The Ohio State University and his bachelor’s degree in Music from Denison University.  He is a registered landscape architect in the state of Ohio and has been a practicing designer since 2012.  Before studying landscape architecture, he worked as a carpenter, organic farmhand, and landscape installer. 

Expertise

Ethan is interested in fundamental design education and has presented research at the annual meeting of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture and sat on the American Society of Landscape Architect’s Council on Education.  He is also interested in the ways that designed spaces can improve the quality of our lives.
