Garth Myers is an Associate Professor of Geography and African/African American Studies at the University of Kansas. Professor Myers' teaching and research focuses on urban development, environmental issues, and cultural geography in Africa. He is the author of numerous articles and three books including "Verandahs of Power: Colonialism and Space in Urban Africa," "Disposable Cities: Garbage, Governance and Sustainable Development in Urban Africa," and "Cities in Contemporary Africa". He holds a BA from Bowdoin College, an MA in African Area Studies and a PhD in Geography from UCLA.
