Professor Robert Livesey has been inducted as one of three honorary members of class 106 of SPHINX Senior Class Honorary, a student organization in existence since 1907 that, each year, “links” 24 new OSU students from across campus into a community meant to honor individuals who exhibit exceptional character and potential for accomplishment. In addition to the student members, each year SPHINX inducts honorary members into the organization because of their unparalleled impact on and service to the University. These individuals are nominated and voted upon by the current SHPINX class and the organization’s alumni. Livesey’s nomination statement highlighted his long-standing dedication to the Knowlton School of Architecture:

• He has served as chair of the architecture department, interim section head in landscape architecture, and School director;
• His dedication to the KSA is unrivaled, made most visible by his championing of the drive to build Knowlton Hall;
• As an instructor, Livesey’s studio and seminar courses have a deserved reputation for being both rigorous and intellectually challenging, and profoundly expand students’ understanding of the field of architecture;
• He is dedicated to making the architecture program at the KSA one of the best in the United States.

Robert Livesey’s tenacious drive and persistent goals for strengthening education, and his example as a leader both in the School as well in the field of architecture academia make him only the second architecture faculty member to be selected for this honor in over a century, and a truly deserving addition to the 106 class of SPHINX.
