Ashley Montana Appointed to Hilltop Area Commission

Ashley Montana (BSCRP ’16) has been chosen to fill an open seat on the Hilltop Area Commission, pending approval from Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther. Commissioner Dean Smith nominated Montana because of her extensive experience working on area commissions.

While working toward her degree in city and regional planning at The Ohio State University, the undergraduate served as an intern for the chair of the Fifth by Northwest Area Commission, which covers approximately 700 acres on the northwest side of Columbus.

In 2016, she was selected by the commission to serve as the chair, becoming one of the youngest individuals to be chosen for that position. Smith said that was just one of the reasons why he nominated her to fill the at-large seat on the GHAC.

“A lot of us would not have been as prepared to hold that position (when we were) in our early 20s,” he said.
