Junmei Cheng Named Presidential Fellow

City and Regional Planning PhD candidate Junmei Cheng has been awarded a Presidential Fellowship by the Graduate School at The Ohio State University.

Cheng is in the final stages of completing her dissertation on the development of a comprehensive planning support system for evaluating the impact of transportation infrastructure on the attractiveness of cities. According to her advisor, Zhenhua Chen, “her research holds immense significance in the realm of transportation infrastructure impact assessments, bridging a critical gap by introducing innovative analytical frameworks that employ advanced quantitative data analysis methods, including Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), machine learning, and spatial econometric modeling. These methods empower transportation planners and analysts to conduct comprehensive evaluations, facilitating informed infrastructure planning and decision-making on large-scale infrastructure investments.”

The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious award given by the Graduate School to recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research or terminal degree project.
