City and Regional Planning Professor and Section Head Jennifer Clark recently discussed Columbus opportunities, challenges, and goals for the future in her keynote speech at the 2023 Columbus Opportunity Summit.

The 2023 Columbus Opportunity Summit was hosted on April 27 in Columbus, Ohio and was the second of the new annual summit. The summit was convened to hear from experts about the challenges the region faces in order to ensure the capacity for future growth. 

If we think about what cities and regions really are, they’re organizing platforms for economic activity.

We live in them, too. They’re also communities and all of those things, but they are organizing platforms for market for market activities.

One of the things we really have to think about is what’s distinctive about the platform we want to build?
