The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) and The Ohio State University have formed a collaborative partnership to offer paid summer internships for top undergraduate students majoring in City and Regional Planning. The internships are offered by public and not-for-profit entities in the Central Ohio area. The program is competitive, so qualified BSCRP students need to apply for participation in the internship program. Public and not-for-profit entities in the Central Ohio area tell MORPC what skills and interests they need in an intern, and then MORCP matches potential interns with a sponsor work on a specific planning project to work on that aligns with those skills. MORPC matches students based upon interests and internship availability.

Previous internships in this program have included: Columbus State University Development Plan, City of Reynoldsburg Economic Development Program Management, MORPC Energy Financing Projects, City of Gahanna Zoning Code Update and MORPC Insight 2050 Development Pattern Projections.

The window to apply opens in October/November, and applications are typically by December 1. An email with the current year’s application is sent to BSCRP students when the application window opens. Details on the necessary student qualifications can be found on the application form.
